Christchurch joins BJCP program

Next year will see the launch of the Beer Judging Certification Program in Christchurch.

The New Zealand branch of the BJCP beer judge training program started in Auckland this year, and will spread to Christchurch and Wellington next year.

This month BJCP international president Gordon Strong will be in New Zealand, checking out our brewing culture and establishing local training programs. Gordon’s in Christchurch on the evening of Friday 1 December to host a beer judging masterclass and meet anyone interested in becoming a BJCP-qualified judge (location to be confirmed).

This is great chance for anyone interested in beer judging and evaluation to participate in a world-class training program. Organisers will be available on the night to answer all your questions about the course, its duration and the time commitments involved.

Here’s how to get involved:

  1. E-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. – subject line CHRISTCHURCH BJCP LAUNCH
  2. Body of the e-mail – just one (tahi, 1!) sentence why you want to be one of the 20 people on the Christchurch BJCP training program next year.

That’s it. Beertown will forward your e-mail directly to the New Zealand BJCP organisers, who will be back to you next week.

N.B. – spaces at the intro night (and the training program) are strictly limited and organisers expect the event to be over-subscribed – so get your entry in this week. One person per entry please – no block bookings.

Good luck!
