Beertown isn’t a place, but it is a community
Beertown.NZ is more than a month old, and it’s time I explained myself.
Beertown is an online source for original, up-to-date craft brewing news from New Zealand. It is a community within a community, where people who enjoy, sell and make good beer come together to share their company and their efforts.
As a business journalist, I’ve been observing, enjoying, blogging and reporting on the craft brewing community since 1993. It’s been a hell of a ride, and I’ve made many friends on the way. So my goal for Beertown.NZ is to uncover and share some of the fascinating stories our beer community has to tell.
It isn’t just about Wellington - I have always planned Beertown.NZ to share a national story, because so many New Zealand towns have a Beertown community within. And interest in out thriving beer scene is international. Most New Zealander's have no idea how highly our beer, brewers and ingredients are appreciated internationally. Let's work together to fix that.
Next week I will be finding great beer stories in Canterbury. I don’t know what they are yet, but I know they’re there. I’ll be on the road to other Beertowns soon.
You can help make this work. If you know of a great brewing story, get in touch and share it with us. If you enjoy a story from Beertown.NZ, please share it with others. You can follow by email too, up there on the right. Most importantly, tell your beer mates about Beertown.NZ.
