Home Brew Tasting - 5pm today, Brewtopia, 130 Tory St, Wellington. We'd like to invite you to Brewtopia for the first Wednesday of every month, 5pm to 7pm, for an informal get-together. Bring along 1 Litre of your home brew to be judged by your peers. Bring a couple of beers if you like. We'll supply the necessary glassware and nibbles. And we may have a few experimental beers that we'd like feedback on as well.

People's Choice: Ground Up Brewing Limestoned IPA
Invercargill Brewery Smokin' Bishop 2016 (7%) - Rimu smoked bock smoked with selectively logged rimu from Catlins Forest Park. Served with smoky sausages, the smoke disappears into a funky fruity bock. Because we smoke our own malt and can't resist trying different wood combinations, each vintage is distinct. Epic Hopdozer NZIPA (6.8%) - driven by three NZ grown hops. Brooklyn, Riwaka and Styrian Goldings. They contribute citrus, orange and marmalade to the aroma and flavour. The rich malt base gives a sweet maltiness to balance the dominant NZ hop flavours. Available now.
Birkenhead Brewing Rawene Coconut & Vanilla Oatmeal Stout (6%) - Deep brown with a tight crema-like head, Rawene oozes smoothness and complexity. Initial chocolate malt aroma gives way to a delicate blend of esters, with notes of vanilla pod and subtle coconut sweetness. Body is voluptuous, with hop flavour and bitterness restrained to ensure drinkability. Liberal use of both flaked oats and barley provide a velvety mid-palate underling a cacao-like blend of chocolate and roast malts, laced with subtle, warming alcohol. The finish is a lingering blend of Coconut, Vanilla, and Chocolate. Available now.
