Sunshine Brewery Pre(H)emptive Strike East Coast Pale Ale (5%) - A collaboration with local hemp farmers Taipukenga Trust. Brewed with NZ Pilsner, oats and local hemp seed flour in the mash, and hemp seed flour again added late in the boil. The spicy character of the seeds is balanced out by generous hop additions of Chinook and Simcoe. Going on tap at the Sunshine Taproom from 3pm Friday.

New Release Tuesday: Te Aro's Concord East Coast IPA - 5pm tomorrow, Hashigo Zake, 25 Taranaki Street, Wellington. This Tuesday we're tapping something hazy from Te Aro Brewing Company. The Concord East Coast IPA is brewed with Victoria Secret, Citra, Mosaic and Amarillo hops with a malt base of American Ale, Vienna, Flaked oats and Wheat malt and fermented using an English Ale yeast.

Vastafarian Green Hopped IPA release - 1pm Saturday 29 April, Tuatara Brewing, 7 Sheffield Street, Paraparaumu. Back in the day, the Vastas were one of the first to brew a green hop beer made with fresh hops in NZ, and now the infamous Tuatara Conehead is a beer for the ages. Which is why this year, we decided to pay homage to the Vastas and the hop harvest with our new fresh hop beer, Vastafarian 5.6% Green Hopped IPA! We'll be celebrating the release at the Brewery Tasting Room on the Kapiti coast just like the Vastas used to when they brewed their fresh hop beer every harvest: with a BBQ, friends, family and, of course, a few pints.

Beer tastings will drive discussion on the key areas of brewing and their associated ingredients, highlighting the significance of malt, yeast, hops and water, from their basic application and significance to their deeper science!
