Sierra Nevada's Beer Camp comes to Beervana
Earlier this month, world craft beer juggernauts Sierra Nevada Brewing released Beer Camp Across the World, a collaboration project with six American breweries and six international breweries - including New Zealand's Garage Project. Each brewery collaborated with Sierra Nevada to create a one-off beer to be sold across the US...or so we thought. For the first time ever, Sierra Nevada is taking their Beer Camp overseas, and not one to do things by halves they're coming all the way to New Zealand, and bringing all twelve of these incredible beers to Beervana this August. This will be your only chance to try these beers from impressive breweries such as Duvel, Fuller's and Mikkeller outside of the US!
Full list of Beer Camp beers here
Steam Triumph – A 9% Belgian Dark Strong Ale (Quadrupel) brewed in the abbey style with 2 strains of Belgian yeast. Aged for 9 months before release, this delectable dark ale exudes a rich, malty aroma of dried raisins and banana bread dipped in treacle. Finishes sweet and rich with minimal alcohol that belies its strength.
Steam Resolution Barrel Aged – A 9% Belgian Dark Strong also aged 9 months, but with 4 months in 40 year old port barrels. Subtle oak and vinous notes on the nose call to mind red wine while the finish has dried out with a light tartness and mild oak tannins. A hit at the Wellington Food show.
Steam Powerhouse XPA – A 4.4% American hopped ultra-light pale ale. Hopped up with Citra and Amarillo, it is citrus forward and crisp - finishing like a pilsner. Approachable and hoppy, in other words, the perfect “lawnmower beer”.
Steam Intrinsic IPA – Showcasing the dankest, fruitiest hops the US and NZ have to offer, this 6.4% West Coast IPA is a new world explosion of flavour. Juicy and drinkable, we spared no expense on the hops: Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra, Sauvin and Riwaka. Tropical pineapple and lychee blend with more funky passionfruit and diesel in this homage to the dank.
