Christchurch brewery for sale
A Christchurch craft brewery is on the market. Beertown.NZ understands the ad refers to Two Thumb Brewing on Manchester St within the four avenues. Business broker Charles Deans says the brewery is generating $170,000/yr and is currently operating profitably but part-time. He says the owner - Clayton and Brad Wallwork - "has another full time business, and therefore cannot do justice to his brewery."

Mount gets Funky
Mount Brewing and Funk Estate have teamed up to share the same site in Mount Maunganui. Funk Estate moved out of its Grey Lynn, Auckland, site late last month and took it's gorgeous CLE Systems brewkit with it. Funk Estate started in 2012 as contract brewers based in Wellington and bought the Grey Lynn spot in December 2015. What do you reckon guys - Certified Shiggy for a housewarming collab?
McLeod's 802 #2 Unfiltered Dark IPA (6.6%) - 802 #2 is the second in our monthly series of fresh, unfiltered IPAs with a rotating cast of hops. This one - made for June - boasts Ahtanum and Simcoe hops, pouring deep mahogany with a lasting off-white head. Upfront hop notes of pine, herbs and green tea are coupled with malt aromas of toffee and cocoa. Smooth and malty with a touch of caramel on the palate, soft bitterness and chocolate accents, it finishes dry with lingering cocoa.
Mac’s/Wellington Chocolate Factory Sweet Disposition chocolate stout (6.2%) - pours a rich dark colour with a creamy head of foam. The beer is true to the Wellington Factory style of chocolate – dark, rich and complex, with a crisp, bittersweet finish. The brewing process begins with generous additions of organic cocoa powder from the Dominion Republic, plus Peruvian Criollo chocolate into the Whirpool. After fermentation the beer is transferred into cold maturation along with organic Peruvian cacao nibs and husks to give more flavour depth and aroma. Specialty malts bring roasted and caramelised notes and give the brew some real complexity. The aftertaste is amazingly similar to finishing off some high quality dark chocolate.
