What future for the Brewers Guild?
That's the big question underlying a roadshow the Guild is taking around the country over the next two weeks. The Guild's executive is meeting brewers to discuss different options for the organisation's structure and roles. Last year the Guild formed a sub-committee to look at different options, and these will be put to members in the roadshow ahead of a vote in the October AGM. The Guild says all members are welcome to attend a local roadshow (but only paid-up member breweries can vote at the AGM).
McLeod's 802 #3 Unfiltered IPA (7%) - Like the other IPAs in our 802 Series, #3 is a study in hops, this time Motueka, Riwaka and the inimitable Lemon Drop. It's also simply about fresh, gorgeous, unfiltered beer. In the words of head brewer Jason Bathgate, #3 is "not a tropical fruit bomb, but a far more delicate, balanced IPA. You'll get lemon peel, capsicum and marmalade on the palate, malt hugs in the background and a soft, dry finish. It's really delicious and so easy to drink, you'd never know it's 7% ABV."
La Sirene Urban Pale (ABV 5.2%) - The Urban Pale is a hop-driven juicy Farmhouse Pale Ale made in our Urban Farmhouse Brewery. Expect grapefruit & pine-cone characters with an assertive bitterness that is enveloped seamlessly with melon, black pepper and citrus rind.
